La Bufa

Hola,

The past three days have been very relaxing. I have been visiting friends an buying gifts for folks back at home. On December 29, I hiked La Bufa, a mountain that has cultural significance in Guanajuato. La Bufa offers a scenic view of the city of Guanajuato and a thrilling hike for all skill levels. This was the drive there:
The hike, for me, was in two parts. The first is near the base, which is a series of caves.
The second is the actual climbing of the mountain itself. It is a challenge by choice, it can be climbed on a shallow route, or be a full-out rock climb. I took a mix of the two so that I felt challenged but also relatively comfortable. The top is a great reward, no matter how you scale the mountain.
24 seconds into the video above, you can see the smaller mountain we climbed. For this one, team effort is required to summit, and it is definitely more on the challenging side. However, it is a fantastic activity to conquer a fear of heights. The following three photos are from that second summit.

Sierra Santa Rosa, Dolores Hidalgo y San Miguel de Allende

Hola todos,

Yesterday, (December 26) I went to Sierra Santa Rosa, a very beautiful forested part of the sierra in Guanajuato. This is the ride there:
Then we climbed to the top of a mountain by bushwhacking. This is the top:
The following day, we took a van to Dolores Hidalgo and the city of San Miguel de Allende, both of which are named after revolutionaries who helped Mexico gain independence. This is the route there:
This is the city itself:
Next we went to San Miguel de Allende, where we saw beautiful Mexican dancing called folclórico:

That's all for now. I will release and post about more videos in the following two days.

Gracias por leer,
Benjamín

La llegada y el ciudad de Guanajuato

Saludos a todos,

Yesterday I arrived at Guanajuato at 8:30 PM. Here is the video of us landing:

After that, I went to my family's house and we had a large dinner and then exchanged gifts.

Today, me and my family went around the city. We first went to la Pipila, a statue in the middle of the city. Then we went to Presa de la Olla. Here is a video of Presa de la Olla:
We finally headed to el Centro, the center of the city of Guanajuato:

We ate more food there and bought some sweets, then went home and had dinner. Overall, this has been a really great two days.

Gracias,
Benjamín

Going Back to Guanajuato, Mexico!!! (Video series)

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is excited for Christmas! I certainly am, because tomorrow, I am leaving for Guanajuato, Mexico!

It's a dream come true (literally) that I get to go back there. I will be posting about the trip on this blog, but this series of posts will be different than other series.

For my first trip, Guanajuato, I did a series of blog posts and photos. For Montana, I did blog posts and videos. For this trip, I will be doing just videos with short and sweet blog posts.

I am doing this because during this trip I won't have as much downtime to write out a whole post (not necessarily a bad thing), and I want to show more to you all about Mexico. With a video, I can show actual things happening as they occur. Plus, I got a new phone, which has a really great camera, so I'd like to try it out.

I will try to post at least every other day, and I'll make my videos as top-notch as possible. You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel here for quicker updates, since the videos go there before here, and to see my other travel videos.

Adios,
Benjamín
